ご縁がつなぐ着物物語 — Kimono, Connection, and Heart

母から娘へ、そしてロンドンのご夫婦へ。
神楽坂で行った着物撮影は、ひとりの知人の紹介から始まり、心と心をつなぐ物語となりました。
着物を通して生まれる“ご縁”の力を、あらためて感じた一日でした。

From mother to daughter, and then to a couple from London.
Our kimono photo session in Kagurazaka began with a friend’s kind introduction —
a story of how connections weave through hearts and generations.

出会いの午後 — A Beautiful Encounter in Kagurazaka

秋の曇り空の中、ロンドンからご夫婦と、紹介してくださったまりさんが神楽坂にいらっしゃいました。
「日本の着物を着てみたい」──そんなご夫婦の想いから、この体験が実現しました。
人のご縁がつないでくれた出会いに、心が温かくなりました。

On a gentle autumn afternoon, a couple from London and their friend Mari, who had kindly introduced us, visited Kagurazaka together.
The couple had always wanted to try wearing a Japanese kimono, and thanks to Mari’s warm connection, their wish came true.
It was a beautiful encounter born from friendship — a reminder of how people are connected through kindness.

母から受け継いだ一枚 — A Kimono from My Mother

奥さまが選ばれたのは、母が私に譲ってくれたカラフルな小紋でした。
私には少し派手すぎて、長い間しまっていた一枚。
でも彼女が袖を通した瞬間、まるで着物が再び息を吹き返したように。輝き出しました！

The kimono she chose was a colorful komon that my mother had once passed down to me.
For years, I thought it was too bright for me and kept it carefully stored away.
But when she put it on, it came alive again — glowing with new light and joy, as if reborn.

着付けの時間 — The Joy of Dressing

着付け師さんが帯を締めたとき、奥さまが笑顔で「わお、シャキッとする！」とひとこと。
そのあと私のゆるめの服を見て、「あなたの服は楽そうでいいわね」とみんなで笑いました。
着物の“凛とした力”と、服を通して感じる文化の違いが、気持ちよく伝わったかな。

When the kitsuke master tightened her obi, the lady smiled and said,
“Wow, it feels so crisp and sharp!”
Then she looked at my loose, comfortable outfit and laughed,
“Your clothes look so relaxed — that’s nice too!”
We all laughed together, and in that moment, I felt how kimono carries both elegance and connection — blending cultures through simple, shared joy.

神楽坂を歩く — Walking Through Kagurazaka

神楽坂の石畳を静かに歩くご夫婦。
奥さまの満面の笑みが本当に可愛らしくて、見ているこちらまで幸せな気持ちになりました。
ご主人は背が高くて、とても素敵な方。
でも用意していた男性用の着物の丈が短くて……正直、ちょっと焦りました（笑）。
あとで写真でそっと修正させていただきました。

The couple walked quietly along the cobblestone streets of Kagurazaka.
The lady’s bright, happy smile was so lovely that it made all of us smile, too.
Her husband was tall and very handsome — but to my surprise, the men’s kimono I had prepared turned out to be a little short!
I felt a bit sorry at the time, but later I gently made a small correction in the photos.

まりさんの振袖 — Mari and Her Vibrant Kimono

まりさんは、「せっかくだから」とオレンジの振袖を選ばれ。
その姿が本当に華やかで、日本人離れした雰囲気がちょーかっこよかった！
振袖は本来、嫁入り前の女性が着るものとされていますが、
やはり華やかなので外国の方にもとても人気があります。

最近は、「自由に着たいものを着たらいいよね」と思うようになり、
振袖も複数枚から選んでいただけるようにしています。
私ももう一回着てみようかな！

Mari, who kindly introduced the couple to me, decided to try an orange furisode — “since it’s a special day,” she said.
She looked absolutely stunning — radiant, confident, and so effortlessly cool.
Traditionally, furisode are worn by unmarried women, but their elegance and bright colors make them especially loved by visitors from overseas.

Recently, I’ve come to think the same — wear what you love, freely and with joy.
Now, I offer several furisode for guests to choose from, so they can find the one that feels right for them.
And maybe... I’ll wear one again myself!

着物が運ぶもの — What Kimono Carries

母から受け継いだ着物が、今度は海を越えて誰かの心を楽しませる。
着物は、記憶と愛、そして新しい出会いをつなぐ橋。
まりさんのご縁から始まったこの体験を通して、
“日本の美”が人をつなぎ、心を動かす力をあらためて感じました。

The kimono I inherited from my mother has now crossed the ocean, touching another heart.
A kimono is a bridge that connects memories, love, and new encounters.
Through Mari’s kind introduction, I realized once again that beauty — especially the beauty of Japanese culture —
has the power to connect people beyond time and borders.
